This is my favourite shot from my recent trip around the west of Japan.

This is perhaps one of the rarest scenes one can see in Japan, and yet everyone looks out for something like this. This is a Shinto priest meditating under a stream of water. The most amazing thing I have seen in Japan.

I didn't want to disturb his meditation to ask if I can photograph him, so I asked his aide who was standing nearby, he said I could.

I dont have a problem with you using my photos as reference for a painting or drawing, but I would have exception if you were to use them as stock photos, or to simply copy them in a painting or drawing. Use them for reference or inspiration as much as you like though.

Yeah, it's a nice place, but so many people don't realise that Kyoto isn't unique in the way that it's full of temples and shrines. Almost anywhere you go in Japan is similar, just not as famous.
