Very good picture.
Thanks for the favs too, greatly appreciated
i just came across this now, on november 11, immediately after standing in my loungeroom for the minute's silence for Remembrance Day.
I take our national heritage, and war heroes, very close to heart (plus, I'm in the Navy meself) and just love this photo, it sort of says it all, doesn't it? I remember spending many days in Canberra walking along the memorial, and remembering everything I have to thank these young men for, for my freedom and our peace. Most of the men were younger than me!! I'm only 22! I would have been one of the elder diggers, and that is so tragic...
There are a lot of great stories to be told, if you liked it at the memorial, I'd suggest reading some of the diaries of C.E.W. Bean, the only official press correspondent for World War I. It was actually Bean who submitted the idea for the memorial in the first place, and his diaries of life in the Gallipoli trenches are awesome.
THanks for a great shot mate, it's gone straight to my favourites list.
Im very glad you like it
