Having been a member of DA for 7 and a half years I have seen DA radically change it's shape and focus at least 4 times. I've been through the controversies, made a fool of myself, in recent years gained recognition for my work, in fact I'm quickly reaching the milestone 50,000 pageview mark, so I would really like to thank everyone who have given support throughout. DA has been my main motivator to take the pretty pictures that I do and has given me the confidence to branch out into semi-professionalism and take even more pretty pictures
So, I would very much like to announce my first ever contest!
As a photographer, I'm going to run a photography contest with a rather broad theme.
The theme is:
You are to submit a photograph taken in 2009 depicting a scene that is culturally significant to the area that you happen to be in at the moment, be it your hometown, or on holiday in Cyprus.
For example, this can include photographs of churches, food, people in suits or a sporting ground. Whatever you feel is culturally significant to your area.
1st place: 3 month sub & a feature in my journal
2nd place: 1 month sub & a feature in my journal
A special prize of a 1 month sub and a mention in my journal will be awarded to whomever can send me a screen cap of my 50,000th pageview. In the event I recieve more than 1 valid screenshot of the 50k, the fastest NOTED to me will recieve the prize. The note must contain a link to the screenshot.
Judging will be done by me and it is final. Aspects I will be looking for in the photographs will be technical prowess, ability to portray a scene or story and general 'wow' factor.
Entries will close midnight the day I recieve my 50,000th pageview Australian Central standard time (+9.5 hours) OR the 7th of September, which ever comes last.
So you have at least 1 month to get your entries in NOTED to me.
Use of Photoshop is allowed
