Through my university course (Masters of teaching, Flinders university) I have just won a study scholarship to Kyushuu Japan, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Beppu for a 3 week intensive language and culture course in Janurary. So I'll be there from the 30th of December 2009 and will arrive back by the 23rd January 2010.
Best thing about it is that it's 100% government funded.
The idea for the course is to further enhance current (and in my case trainee) language teacher's skills in the language they are trying to teach.
What this means for you is that I get to take my camera to a part of Japan famous for it's hotsprings, and a place I have never been before.
That Fuji G617 camera is looking even more tempting now...
But first I really REALLY need to brush up on my terribly rusty Japanese skills before I go on this trip :/
